Abstract
The production of energy and the consumption can be linked to our environmental quality problems. Since energy industries involve hundreds of billions of dollars of our . domestic and global economics, even though relatively few natural resources are used in the production of energy. The domestic energy economy is roughly divided between oil and electricity, which do not compete with one another. Oil is primarily used in the transportation sector. Natural gas, coal, and nuclear power are used to generate electricity, which in turn is primarily used for commercial and residential heating, air conditioning, lighting, and for industrial manufacturing. A more detailed discussion of facts about the natural resources used to produce energy, and the uses to which energy is put, will help illuminate the nation's environmental energy laws and policies.
The early history of hazardous chemical wastes, water pollution, and land pollution can be traced to Love Canal in Niagara Falls. The canal became a chemical and municipal disposal site for several chemical companies and the city of Niagara Falls. Our plant earth is under attack by pollution, destroying its fisheries, inhabitants and resorts. The seas are starved for oxygen. The Black Sea once a boundless source of dolphins, caviar and fish, has fallen by chemical dumping.
The ozone layers is depleted and our forest is in the ruin due to acid rain, resulting from air pollution and environmental toxicity. The world environmental problems was virtually unthinkable 200 years ago. But, since the industrial revolution things have changed.
