Abstract

John F Kennedy Airport is confusing to mov around in to say the least. It’s structure and layout have raised questions throughout the years but little to no action has been taken. So what can be done to “fix” and better JFK airport?

At the beginning of this course, I wanted to combine all the separated terminals of JFK airport to create one large airport structure in which people can move around and change terminals easily instead of taking the shuttle system which JFK has been using to combat the issue of it’s terminals being so far apart and disconnected from one another.

Another question then arises. What else can be done to better JFK airport other than making it easier to move around in? The conclusion I cam to was to to transform JFK airport into both an airport for international flights and bullet train station for domestic traveling.

Bullet trains can consume only around 12.5% of the energy that planes require, and produce 92% less carbon emissions per seat. Getting rid of domestic flights and using a bullet train system instead would play a great role in reducing air pollution caused by planes.
